Dear Parents,
Christmas Ball - 19/12/08, Holiday Inn Kenilworth
You will have seen a flier in your bookbags yesterday for the Christmas Ball. Although this is what we are calling it, it will be more of a Party than a Ball - dress code is whatever you like, at the Summer Ball some people came in Black Tie others in lounge suit/cocktail dresses, a couple in jeans. The evening is more about having fun and making new friends or having fun with existing friends. As it is on the 19th December the atmosphere will be wonderful and very festive.
If you haven't already returned your reservation slip for tickets now is your chance! You have several choices -
- The PTA Box which is now outside the School Hall,
- You can hand into your PTA class representative (see PTA Board) for details or
- Debbie Poole will have forms at this evenings fun Bingo & Pizza event, so bring your cheque book.
Swimming Gala
Just a reminder to parents that next Tuesday (11th November) is the ISA swimming gala in Walsall. We are putting a enthusiastic team forward for this event and hope to return to school by 4.30pm. Good luck to all!
Foundation Stage Open Afternoon
Next … sees our Open Afternoon for Foundation Stage at Abbotsford School and parents are welcome to drop in anytime from 1.30pm onwards. The children have been busy practicing a variety of songs this term and are looking forward to entertaining you at 3pm.
Parent Evenings
As you will remember Parent Evenings take place next Tuesday and Wednesday. I am sure you will all have made appointments to see your respective class teachers – if anyone would like to pop in for an informal chat I will be around both afternoons. Please feel free to drop in!
Lost Property
Elle Dargon’s PE kit has gone missing at school. Could I ask parents to check their children’s PE bags and ensure that they have not taken this by accident.
Christmas Holiday Club
Mr Higgs has asked me to remind you that forms for the Christmas Holiday Club need to returned as soon as possible. These are always very popular and available spaces are running out fast!
Breakfast Club
Our trial Breakfast Club has proved very popular with pupils and parents; the waft of bacon sandwiches was very tempting first thing this morning! If you would like to take advantage of this facility please book in using the forms provided.
Amani Appeal
For those of you unlucky enough to have missed our Harvest Festival at the end of last half-term you will not have seen the incredibly moving video of the Amani Project that we were supporting. I am pleased to report that we managed to raise £275 and it will go into the home’s catering budget.
Children in Need
Next Friday is Children in Need and we will be holding a Non-uniform Day for children here at Abbotsford. We would suggest a minimum donation of £1 (more if you wish) for children to take part.
Sickness
We have had several children absent from school with a sickness bug this week. Can I reiterate to parents that we require you to keep your child home from school for a minimum of two days following such illness. I am sure you understand that these bugs can spread very quickly through children and staff and we always try hard to avoid others catching it.
Just to make you aware, we also currently have a child from the nursery off with chicken pox, so watch out for those spots!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week at Abbotsford, everyone has made me feel really welcome. I am looking forward to meeting more of you at tonight’s Pizza and Bingo night.
Regards
Dominic Cook
