Dear Parents,
Another busy week in school! The children all enjoyed their day in Non-uniform today to support Children in need. The children in Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2 also enjoyed an afternoon of Road Safety activities to celebrate road safety week. There are quite a lot of important dates and notices in today’s newsletter so please make a note on your calendars of any relevant to you and your children!
ISA Swimming GalaMr Higgs and I took 17 children to this event on Tuesday. 21 schools took part from the Midlands area and our children did us proud! We gained numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and all swam with enthusiasm and enjoyment! Particular mention must go to Darcy Poole who won her breaststroke race and came 4th overall; also to Charlie Curtis who came 8th overall in the backstroke and Fiodor Rumynin who came 8th overall in the breaststroke. A full list of results is on the parents display board in the rear hallway.
Coventry festival of speech and dramaA plea from Mrs Preston……..please could all parents of participants ensure that their children rehearse their poems for this event next week! Thank you.
Christmas holiday clubMr Higgs would like to thank you for your prompt return of the booking forms. We are pleased to say that we have enough children registered for this club to go ahead. We have not opened these days to the general public, however if you know of friends or family who may like to book places please ask Mrs Satchwell for a booking form.
After School club competition
Congratulations to Harry Jenkins for his winning poster advertising our after school care. Harry's poster featured the new name for our after school club "Night Owls", all posters will be displayed in the rear hallway next week. To compliment this excellent name, our breakfast club will be rechristened "Dawn Chorus".
Hot dinner surveyA letter came home to you this week asking for your opinions on us providing hot dinners; please return this information as soon as possible to the office.
PTA news…….
Abbotsford’s resident expert bingo caller, Emma Carroll and the merry band of wonderful PTA helpers enjoyed an excellent night at the PTA Pizza & Bingo. The monies are in the process of being counted and we’ll let you know how much money you raised. Keep an eye out for information on the notice board. Thanks also to our pizza supplier, La Cucina Restaurant in Kenilworth.
Wednesday night saw a “Get to Know You Evening” for new and not so new parents of Abbotsford. The night was filled with lots of chatter, so much so, we didn’t realise there was background music until we were leaving! Thanks to Catherine Bramwell for organising and Charlotte McCosker from Harrington’s.
PTA CHRISTMAS FAIR – Friday 28th November, 5-7pm
